Hi Reader, Welcome to Your Dose of Mana — a quick, weekly note with: If your biggest business challenges are actually people challenges, you’re in the right place. Were they really? 1 Real Story A while back, I had a tough week. After more than a year in a long-distance relationship, my patience was thinning. I started questioning everything. Were there red flags I was ignoring? In previous relationships, I had missed red flags. Or maybe I hadn’t missed them. Maybe I chose not to see them. That thought alone gave me pause. Then a friend asked something I wasn’t expecting: “Did those men make you a better person?” I actually gasped. Because I had never evaluated a relationship that way. Not “Did it feel good?” But: Did I grow? And that reframed everything. Those “red flags” weren’t erosion. They were friction. And that friction was sharpening me. Making me more patient. Not smaller. Better. 1 Leadership Insight We talk a lot about red flags in leadership. Toxic culture. And yes, real red flags exist. But not all discomfort is danger. Some discomfort is growth. There’s a difference between: – Being diminished Between: – Changing yourself to survive In work and in relationships, we often confuse complexity with incompatibility. Some dynamics force you to raise your game. To slow down. That’s not a red flag. That’s development. The question isn’t: “Is this uncomfortable?” The question is: “Is this making me less… or making me more?” 1 Practical Takeaway When you feel friction, ask: – Am I shrinking to accommodate this? Real red flags make you doubt your worth. Growth edges make you rise. In leadership, in love, in life — the skill is discernment. Knowing when to pivot. And knowing when to stay because the challenge is shaping you into a better version of yourself. The difference matters. And sometimes what looks like a red flag at first glance… is actually a green light. 1 Dose of Art A little whimsy. A little joy. A little doodle.
