Hi Reader, Welcome to Your Dose of Mana — a quick, weekly note with: It’s About Learning to Focus 1 Real Story It was late 2016. I had just wrapped the sale of Caerus Associates, and I wanted to bring meditation mainstream — a drop-in studio that stripped out the “woo-woo.” Accessible. Practical. Just Meditate. Here’s the thing: meditation isn’t about shutting your brain down. It’s about focus — quieting the noise and anchoring your attention on one thing: your breath, a sound, or a physical sensation. Something steady amid the chaos of your thoughts. And the irony? When I opened the studio, I wasn’t meditating regularly myself. Too busy. Too distracted. Now, 120+ days straight, I’m finally doing it. And that’s leadership too — not shutting everything out, but learning what to focus on, what to release, and how to stay steady in the noise. 1 Leadership Insight There’s constant noise — competing priorities, opinions, fires to put out, shiny distractions everywhere. The work is to tune it out.
That’s leadership focus — not reacting to every thought or distraction, but noticing, refocusing, and staying the course. 1 Practical Takeaway It’s about knowing what deserves your attention — and what doesn’t. When you learn to focus for longer stretches, you stop reacting and start leading. So, breathe. Even though this is a “mass email” I mean it when I say—let me know what you are up to. Reply, book a Zoom, pick up the phone. I’d love to catch up. And if leadership, culture, or people challenges are taking up too much brain space lately— Thanks for letting me show up in your inbox. More joy. Less friction. Always. |
